The city of Fendgu, China was bristling with activity as the city was being dismanteld below to make way for the flooding of the Yangtze River project known as the Three Gorges Dam. This sentinel stands guard of an old temple in Fendgu.
The countryside in this part of China is clearly some of the most exquisite in the world... there are not too many places like this on this earth. The karst peaks (limestone) have eroded into beautiful spires that have inspired the great artists of China's most beautiful works. It almost doesn't seem real when you see this landscape in Chinese paintings, but they are quite real.
